Issue Position: A Strong Voice for Our Community Taxes and Economic Development

Issue Position

As a small business owner, Mike understands the negative impact excessive government spending and high taxes can have on families and small businesses. That is why he is an outspoken leader and advocate for the communities he represents -- moving our state in the right direction by working to cut spending, cut taxes and create jobs.

Mike has delivered real tax relief for residents. Mike was a leader in the effort to:

-- Pass four on-time State budgets that capped spending and cut taxes, while protecting vital programs;
-- Repeal the utility tax (18-A assessment);
-- Enact a middle-class tax cut for 4.4 million taxpayers and the lowest rate in 60 years; and
-- Eliminate onerous taxes on manufacturers.

In addition to Mike's effort to reduce taxes, he has been a tireless advocate in bringing your tax dollars back to Western New York. Despite the state's limited resources, Mike has been successful in securing millions of dollars to support local jobs and create new economic opportunities. Most notably, Mike fought to protect funds for Roswell Park Cancer Institute and secured critical funding for agribusiness, and $33 million for the Genesee Science and Technology Advanced Manufacturing Park (STAMP) project.
